Vegetarian breakfast recipes providing homemade ideas for a well
balanced diet.
Also if you do not have time to
prepare breakfast or fresh fruit salad,
why not make a fruit shake you can drink on the go:
1 Cup of frozen mango chunks
1 Cup of frozen raspberries
1 Cup of cold water
1/2 Lemon juice
3 tsp of honey
1/2 tsp cinnamon
If
using frozen fruit chunks you do not need to ice. Blend until
smooth and enjoy a refreshing this shake full of vitamins and
antioxidants.
This
fruit shake is low calories but with great nutritional value to set you
up for the day ahead.
For years I skipped breakfast, found it hard to eat first thing in the
morning and used to feel sleepy by mid afternoon.
Why is
breakfast so important?
When you wake up,
your Glucose sugar levels are low.
So it is essential to eat well to "stock up" which is what will
give you energy throughout the day.
The brain and muscles work better with food. If we compare our
body to a car, the brain would be the engine.
Food to the brain is like fuel to a car. Without it, cannot go very far.
The same way water to the brain is like oil to the engine.
Without it, the "engine" can dry out.
Scientific research
indicate that eating breakfast can aid weigh loss. Simply because
if you eat in the morning, you are less likely feeling
starved by lunch time and may need a smaller meal.
Depriving
the stomach from food for long periods of time, will make you eat
larger meals and you body is more likely to reserve fat.
Our body is
amazing and it programs itself according to our diet trends.
If
you not feed the body regularly, it reserves fat to compensate for the
longer periods of not eating.
If like me, you did not eat breakfast for years and wish to start, I
would not recommend starting with big breakfasts.
It
will be easier on your body to adjust in moderation, so start with
having a piece of toast and fresh orange juice
for about a week.
The following week, in addition to toast and fresh juice, have some
cereal or a yogurt and so on.
If you find yogurt a bit heavy first thing in the morning, try a fresh
fruit salad.
