Sweet Scones


Sweet Plain Scones Recipe - This simple recipe is quick and easy to make.

Serves: 6
Preparation: 25 minutes

Ingredients:
150g self raising flour
100 ml soya milk
50g butter
2 Free range eggs
2 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt

  • Mix flour with salt, baking powder and butter by hand until finely crumbled.
  • Heat oven to 220 degrees.
  • Add milk and 1 egg to the mixture until forming a dough ball.   If too wet, add more flour.
  • Knead and stretch dough about 3 or 4 times.  Roll out dough into a sausage shape.
  • Cut into slices (about 2.5 cm thick) and place them into a greased baking tray.
  • Whip remaining egg and brush top of each scone with egg wash.
  • Bake in oven for about 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot or cold with butter and jam.

If you are feeling adventurous, add pitted cherries or Goji berries in the dough and cook as indicated above.  Delicious!
