Franchises never seem like good value for money but hey, if you can afford it and wish to have a ready to go business, that is OK.

There are also lots of so called "working from home opportunities" that mislead people to believe that by paying a commission up front, they will be given a secret to guarantee their success.

You do not always need capital to start a business. 
Let's look at e-commerce for example, no need to have stock to sell, you can sell stock on behalf of someone else and get a commission.
You can sell advertising space with Amazon, Clickbank, Google Adsense and the list goes on.

Most of us spend years complaining about our job or our financial situation. 

Of course it is not easy, we tend to discourage ourselves even before we start:
 "I have no money"; " I have no time" or " I have no energy"

Question is: How bad do we want to change our lives?
Do we spend the rest of our lives adjusting to modern slavery working for somebody else for little money or do we choose to control our destiny?

Let's consider situations that may stop you starting your own business:
Money
Do not spend what you do not have.  You may end up being a slave to the Bank Manager.
Start a website, the money you spend is for your site, to advertise what you choose, you make the decisions!  Become you own boss today!
Become a referrer and get paid a finder's fee

Time
You may already work long hours for a company and do not see how you would find the time to work for yourself.  If you find yourself dwelling and feeling depressed about your life for up to 1 hour a day.  You have the time to work for yourself 1 hour a day.  Start slowly and find a flexible system that works for you.
So many of us work overtime without extra pay, either because of deadlines imposed by our workload or because we feel the need to impress our boss in the hope that we "may" get a pay rise.  Which often leads to resentment when that financial recognition does not materialize.
When you are your own boss, you set the deadlines and your salary!

Energy
Having lack of energy is usually a cause of stress, not having the correct diet, working to hard, not making enough quality time for ourselves, lack of sleep or rest.  Leading to diseases, depression and other ill health conditions.
A healthy diet can boost your energy levels. Better rest and drinking plenty of water can help you feel more alert.
Taking 10 minutes a day for yourself, even if just to have fun over the  telephone with your friends can help lift your mood.
Another option is to do something you enjoy. Find a hobby that can help you forget everyday worries.

Why not start a business by building a website?  Site build based on your favourite hobby or a subject you have good knowledge about.  Use your life experience to build content, you know more than you give yourself credit for!

To be your own boss you need to have passion, choose the right product, have the right niche and work hard! 
Investing time in building good site content and links, will bring you visitors.  If you have all that, traffic will follow.

Yes, you will need to put the hours in before seeing good returns but it can be flexible to help you whilst working elsewhere.  The difference is that once you achieve your goals, you will be putting money in your pocket instead of someone else's.  Check out some sample sites

Quick rich schemes only work for the people that are selling them!
Always be wary of people asking for money upfront.

I have built my website using SBI and with their support tools and videos on how to, it was so easy that I have started my second site!
I build my pages using Komposer, but you need to be conversant with html code.
SBI did also offer another alternative which was block builder,  which is great for beginners.  If you are not technically minded, SBI can build the website for you.
