Chocolate Cake Roll
Chocolate Cake Roll or Bolo Bolacha de Chocolate
This
Portuguese dessert recipe is great to introduce kids to cooking and a
great favourite at parties. Thin slices can go a long way.

Serves: 8
Preparation: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
200g Rich Tea Biscuits (plain)
250 g Sugar
150 g Butter
1 tsp
lemon juice
1 tsp
coffee powder
1Table spoon milk
75 g Chocolate powder
1 Free Range Egg
Large sheet of
non grease paper
- In a large bowl, mix sugar and butter
well.
- Add lemon juice, milk, 1 tsp coffee,
egg yolk and chocolate powder.
- Mix well to reach a creamy consistency.
- Add biscuits crushed into small chunks
(1 cm) and fold gently into the chocolate cream.
- On a flat surface, dust sugar on large
non grease paper sheet.
- Place mixture in middle of sheet and
fold sheet to help push mixture into a thick sausage shape.
Keep pressing gently until roll thickness is even.
- Place in the fridge for at least 5
hours before cutting into thin slices.
Please note that
chocolate cake recipe includes using raw one egg which will not be cooked.
This
recipe was created before there were so many health scares.
As an alternative to egg you can use 1 table
spoon of honey.
There
are so many variations of chocolate cake but this is a very good
chocolate recipe to take to a picnic or a party.
