About Me and Robson Recipes

Want to know more about me?

Isabel-Robson

I was a meat eater for 35 years. This changed after realizing how badly animals were treated during their life and towards their death in animal farms.

I am not here to preach about your diet choices.  But to hopefully raise awareness and help other people who are considering giving up meat.

Although I have always enjoyed fruit and vegetables, I never thought I could ever give up meat myself.  I have since learned that a vegetarian diet can be complete and healthy.

I was born in Portugal in 1972. Blessed with countryside surroundings and fresh produce, I gained interest in cooking at a very early age.

A Mediterranean diet high in fibre, plenty fresh fruit and vegetables kept me healthy. Portugal has over 350 traditional dishes so I was not short of varied diet.
At 18 years old, I moved to England where I currently reside with my husband Douglas and my 7 cats.   We both run a pet sitting company Four Diamond Paws.

In 1993, I was fortunate to work in an Italian restaurant where I was introduced to Italian food, and a new passion for pasta dishes.

For the last 20 years I have enjoyed creating simple and easy recipes, which I can now share with you. To learn how I created this website click here.

As a recently turned Pescatorian or Aqua-vegetarian (since 2007), I have been disappointed with the lack of simple vegetarian recipes in restaurants in the UK and Portugal.
I see this as a lost business opportunity for restauranteurs, not only vegetarians would eat out more but also a lot of meat eaters would enjoy having a change.

Some small restaurants go as far as assuming that the “vegetarian” option can include fish!

Eating fish is not part of a vegetarian diet but Pescatorian / Aqua-Vegetarian diet.
Pescatorians do not eat meat, they eat ovo lacto vegetarian food and fish.
A Vegetarian diet may include dairy products for some vegetarians but does not include fish.
Vegans do not consume meat, fish, dairy products or any items derived from animals, even honey may be excluded for committed Vegans.

Giving up meat was easier than I thought, particular when I already had a 40% vegetarian diet before without even realizing it. But I do admit I enjoy eating fish. Please check out my free fish recipes.
Protein found in nuts can be an alternative, saving the fish for example.

But enough about me.  We must remember that the same diet is not suitable for everyone for different reasons, health, religion, culture, allergies to name a few.

I am passionate about food and using fresh ingredients, it is about time we focus on the foods that we can eat and their health benefits.

For those of you that choose not to eat fish, I also share some of my favourite healthy vegetarian recipes.
